Toyin Aimakhu and Yomi Fabiyi have emerged the best Yoruba actress and actor in a leading role at the recently held 2016 Best Of Nollywood awards.
Aimakhu, who played the role of Anuwa alongside Fabiyi, who played Dele in the movie, Metomi, emerged best actress and actor amidst cheers and glee
The award which held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 in Abia State also had Sola Sobowale, Fidelis Duker and Chika Okpala aka Chief Zebrudaya getting lifetime achievement awards for their contribution to Nollywood.
Aimakhu beat Mercy Aigbe (Victims), Temitope Solaja (Lehin Ikoro), Wumi Toriola (Eni Owo), Yewande Adegbenro (Yeye Oge) and Jumoke Odetola (Binta Ofege) to emerge the 2016 best actress in a Yoruba movie while Fabiyi beat Femi Adebayo (Gbewiri Meta), Niyi Johnson (Lifeline), Muyiwa Ademola (Eni –Owo), Lateef Adedimeji (Yeye Oge) to win the best actor.
Hosted by Okey Bakassi and actress, Mercy Aigbe Gentry, the award which aims at acknowledging the resilience of Nigerian filmmakers for defying the current harsh economic realities to sustain their creative activities, took place at El-Dorda event center, Aba, Abia State.
