The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has expressed its readiness to release the results of its 2018 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) within seven weeks.
The exam body which stated this over the weekend, said modalities has been put in place to ensure the results do not exceed 45 days before they are made known to school candidates who sat for the 2018 examination nationwide.
WAEC’s spokesman, Mr. Damianus Ojijeogu, who disclosed this in a chat with News Agency of Nigeria, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of this year’s examination.
His words: “We are indeed happy that the examination was conducted in a hitch free manner.
Right now, we have commenced coordination, briefing and subsequently, marking.
We are looking at releasing the results in 45 days or earlier than that time.
“It has been the commitment of the council to always give quality service delivery in line with the Head of National Office, Mr. Olu Adenipekun’s promise to reduce the waiting days from 90 days to 45 days.”
While saying that relevant technology has been deployed to marking venues to assist in scanning the scripts to ensure speed in the process , Ojijeogu said the move would go a long way to impact positively in the early release of the results.
It would be recalled that this year’s WASSCE for school candidates commenced on March 27 and was concluded on May 15.
