After much explanation from the Popular Nigerian singer Olamide Adedeji popularly known with stage name Olamide Badoo the singer is in another hullabaloo with the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation NBC over his recently released track Science Students which is still enjoying massive airplay and acceptance from his fans in Nigeria and all over the globe.
NBC descended on the singer penultimate week and ordered all Radio and Television Stations across the country to conform with the corporation’s stand of the song “Science Students” which they slammed a Not-To-Be-Broadcast.
According to the NBC’s Head of Public Affairs Hajia Maimuna Jihada the song was not out-rightly banned but prohibited from being played on local stations for public consumption.
Jihada in the statement released said NBC does not ban music. Our mandate is on what goes on Radio and TV. Olamide’s Science Student has been declared ‘Unfit for broadcast’. the song’s subtle promotion of illegal drugs was the main reason for declaring it unlawful. We have communicated all our licensees for compliance or they will face sanctions.
Meanwhile Olamide in his quest to clear the air said the song is aimed at fighting drug abuse as against NBC’s claims.
