What could have turned out to become physical combat between law makers and staffs of the National Assembly was technically laid to rest on Monday when an official of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) allegedly slapped the Senate Deputy minority whip Senator Abiodun Olujimi.
An eye witness account disclosed that trouble started when an official of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria who was rushing down for the meeting of his association rode on elevator meant for the law makers only.
According to the eye witness, Senator Olujimi who is representing Ekiti South Senatorial District was on her way to the public hearing of the committee on petroleum (downstream) was furious on why should a PASAN member rode on the elevator meant for the law makers and ordered her aide to slap the PASAN member whose name is still protected by the other members of the association as at the time of filling this report.
The PASAN member it was gathered retaliated by slapping the Senate Deputy minority whip rather than her aide as neither the Senator, her aide nor any PASAN members have refused to make any comment on the issue when approached by newsmen as it took the intervention of National Assembly security officials to rescue her from the scene.
The PASSAN member has refused to apologize because members of his association were covering him up, but the Senator after the hearing, vowed to take up the case with the National Assembly security.
